The Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday introduced a slew of additions to their basketball operations employees, together with naming ladies’s basketball legend Tina Thompson a staff scout.
Thompson was a nine-time WNBA All-Star and four-time league champion who performed within the WNBA for 17 seasons, the primary 12 of which she spent with the Houston Comets. Thompson retired from the league in 2013 because the WNBA’s all-time main scorer earlier than Diana Taurasi surpassed her report in 2017.
Thompson was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Corridor of Fame in 2018. She coached the College of Virginia ladies’s basketball staff from April 2018 to March 2022, when she was fired by the school with one year remaining in her contract and a 30-63 report over her four-year tenure.
The 2-time Olympic gold medalist was named to a listing of the highest 25 WNBA gamers of all time by the league in 2021.
Along with Thompson, former Sacramento Kings assistant coach Jonah Herscu will be a part of the Path Blazers as an assistant coach and former Los Angeles Clippers participant improvement coach David Adkins will be a part of the staff as director of participant improvement as names highlighting the Path Blazers’ employees additions.
