Smooth Launch of CTs Online Sports Betting, Gaming Begins – NBC Connecticut

A seven-day soft launch of online sports betting and games in Connecticut begins today.

The Department of Consumer Protection announced on Friday that the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, Mohegan Tribe and Mashantucket Pequot Tribe could begin a soft launch for online betting programs on Tuesday. Once the soft launch is complete, online games can be opened nationwide.

There will be some restrictions during the soft launch phase and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation has different parameters than the tribes.

They will only offer online sports betting within the state, limited to 750 people through the online platform. During this soft start, customers are only allowed to place bets at certain times of the day – Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., then in a 24-hour cycle for the remainder of the soft launch phase.

The Tribes will be allowed to launch online sports betting within the state, online casino games limited to those soft launch approved by DCP.

According to the DCP, this includes more than 100 games. The soft launch does not include live dealer or peer-to-peer online casino games and is limited to wagering from 750 customers. They are subject to the same hourly restrictions as the CT lottery.

FanDuel, DraftKings and Rush Street Interactive, who have signed contracts with the Tribes and CT Lottery, are allowed to begin setting up customer accounts for the 750 people who will participate in the soft launch.

The rollout of nationwide retail and online sports betting was originally scheduled for Thursday, October 7, but state officials announced on Wednesday that there would be a delay.

Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun opened their sports bets Thursday when Connecticut’s legalized sports bets began.

Sports betting already started last week at Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe works with Draft Kings, while the Mohegan Tribal Nation has chosen FanDuel to operate their sportsbook.
