NBA Odds: Blazers Raptors Prediction, Odds, Picks & More

[ad_1]

The NBA continues Sunday with a solid interconference matchup! It’s time to continue our NBA odds series with a Blazers-Raptors prediction and pick.

Portland picked up a win against the Boston Celtics last time out and continues their road trip to Toronto. They’re 19-26 that year, which puts them 10th in the Western Conference. The raptors are 22-21 a year, which is good for the 8th seed in the east. Toronto pulled off a big win against the Washington Wizards last time out.

Here are the Blazers-Raptors NBA odds, courtesy of FanDuel.

Why the blazers could be covering the spread

The Blazers managed to light up the scoreboard against the Celtics last time out. This is a team that has been set on fire by the injury virus and it has hurt them this season. They managed to squeeze past a struggling Celtics team last time, but this time they’re up against a much better team. Although no one thought the Raptors would be where they are now, they still find ways to win games. They have a track record that exceeds expectations and they do their job in the East. Portland need to play exactly like they played against the Celtics if they want any chance of covering the spread.

The Blazers are 18-27 against the spread this season. They managed to win three of their last five games, which puts them in playoff contention. If you want to stay where you are, you have to end this road trip on a high. CJ McCollum is back and healthy and playing very well. He needs to lead this team on offense if they’re going to cover that spread. On the defensive end they must include Fred Van Vleet as well as Pascal Siakam.

Why the Raptors might cover the spread

The Raptors are the better team, but that’s a range that’s hard to cover. They are at home where they are in the 12-11 season. You don’t have to worry about a very strong defense as Damian Lillard won’t play. But McCollum is an elite goalscorer who is not to be taken lightly. Norman Powell meets his former team and can also light up the scoreboard. If the Raptors can shut down those two, they should be able to hold on to that spread.

Portland is only 5-15 down the road. That’s a great sign for the Raptors, even though they upset the Celtics on the road two nights ago. These teams face off for the second time this year, where the Blazers won the last matchup 118-113. McCollum led by 29 points and it has to be a similar production if they want to cover that range.

Blazers-Raptors Final Prediction & Selection

Because the spread is so big, I’m taking the blazers to cover them in this one. It just makes more sense to bet on that spread than on a .500 team to win by that margin. The Blazers have had a good game and should keep that momentum going.

Blazers-Raptors Final Prediction & Pick: Blazers +8.5 (-114)
