Equality House: New Brunswick kicks off with a shadowless Halloween dance party for Central Jersey’s QTPoC and LGBTQIA + community.
(New Brunswick, NJ) – On Sunday, September 24th at 2:00 p.m. EST, Equality House: New Brunswick is kicking off their shadow-free Halloween dance party for the QTPoC and LGBTQIA + community. Equality House: New Brunswick is a new community building initiative that creates and curates healing, uplifting and connecting experiences for QTPoC and LGBTQIA + folx. Equality House is run by wellness expert Alistair Williams, named one of New York City’s most motivating coaches in the New York Times.
“Shadow-free is our goal to keep our experiences as free of judgment as possible. I want Equality House to be a safer social scene for us to show ourselves as the best version of ourselves. Believe me, I am a blind person with my own judgmental opinions. However, I want our culture to be full of positive energy that unites us. Shadow-free is our admonition to cultivate a culture of grace. “
Equality House: New Brunswick is a division of FuncSoul. FuncSoul offers wellness programs and resources to corporate groups, universities, and nonprofits. FuncSoul’s current and past partners include Google, Spotify, Dropbox, Etsy, Rutgers University, New York University, Washington State University, Sanctuary for Families, TransTech Social, JobPath, and more.
The shadow-free Halloween event on Sunday, September 24th at 2 p.m. EST begins with an open microphone. After the open mic, the event turns into an exciting dance party with activities for non-dancers. A virtual option will be offered for disabled people and people who cannot attend in person. Registration allows attendees to pay as much as possible for general admission (free up to $ 50). Sponsoring, donation and volunteer offers are also possible.
Alistair founded Equality House: New Brunswick out of a personal desire to build his own community in the Central Jersey area. Equality House: New Brunswick is part of its vision of the “new church”.
“I grew up working in the church. For me, the church is simply a community that heals, grows and practices positive values together. Although I’m no longer religious, I miss having a space to join the community and feel a bit more human through real expression and connection. I believe that so many people, especially QTPoC & LGBTQ + folx, can use a safer space without being bound by any dogma other than equality and grace. Equality House: New Brunswick offers this safer space in an unconventional and exciting way. Community is the new church. “
Equality House: The New Brunswick Shadow Free Halloween Dance Party will be held on Sunday, September 24th at 2:00 p.m. EST at Ale ‘N’ Wich, 246 Hamilton St, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. To learn more or to sign up, visit funcsoul.com/equalityhaus.
