East Orange General Hospital renamed Carewell Health Medical Center


The new name is part of a company-wide brand transformation that reaffirms the medical center’s commitment to the community

East Orange General Hospital (EOGH), Essex County’s only independent acute care hospital, unveiled a new name, CareWell Health Medical Center, and logo at a ceremony yesterday. The new name is part of a company-wide brand transformation that reaffirms the medical center’s commitment to the community and vision for the future. New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver, East Orange Mayor Ted T. Green, and Orange Township Mayor Dwayne D. Warren, Esq. attended the unveiling ceremony with members of the hospital’s new ownership group, EOH Acquisition Group, LLC.

“East Orange General Hospital has been an anchor facility in the community for over 40 years, which I called East Orange my home, providing exemplary care to residents of the area. I’m really looking forward to her new chapter, “said Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver, serving as commissioner for the Department of Community Affairs. “The name may have changed, but under the direction and property of Ms. Paige Dworak, CareWell Health Medical Center will continue to serve residents of the area with dignity and compassion, while better adapting and expanding services and programs to meet changing needs to do justice to the community. ”

Our new name and brand represent our commitment to transform this important community value and signal a fresh start for this organization. Generations of children, parents, friends and loved ones have turned to us for help, hope and healing – and we look forward to continuing to serve Essex County for decades to come. “

CareWell Health’s executive team did several months of market research to assess previous brand perception. The research included interviews with prominent members of the East Orange Community, local residents, doctors, employees, local business owners and executives from national industry organizations. The new brand symbolizes the transformation of the medical center into the leading independent boutique community hospital in Essex County.

“We pride ourselves on being a small, dedicated community hospital where everyone is welcome. Whether you are walking in search of care, taking the bus to our doorstep or needing quick help, you can always be sure that you are important to us and that you are never treated like another number, ”added Dworak .

In October, CareWell Health announced the acquisition of EOH Acquisition Group, LLC, a new group of owners led by Dworak, the first owner and CEO of a New Jersey hospital; Ben Klein, a resident of Englewood and owner of more than three dozen behavioral health facilities; and attorney Troy Schell. On January 1, the EOH Acquisition Group, LLC officially acquired the medical center.

The new leadership intends to expand the service and invest in the best people and technology to ensure the facility continues its mission of providing high quality care to the residents of East Orange and the surrounding Newark communities.

CareWell Health is Essex County’s only boutique community hospital. The medical center’s financial priorities will be focused on growth, particularly investing in new programs and services, expanding its primary care and surgical services to support its core mission as an acute care facility. In addition, CareWell Health is increasing its focus on behavioral health.

“At CareWell Health, we know our patients come to us in moments of great need, and we believe our patients deserve the best possible care and experience,” added Dworak.

The COVID-19 crisis has underscored the value and reliability of the CareWell Health services, on which Essex County’s communities have counted since 1903. The medical center never closed its doors or even expanded its services during the pandemic, becoming a success – becoming the location for testing, training and advice and providing telemedicine to safely reach patients where they were.

Over the next few weeks and months, the medical center will migrate to the new brand identity and apply it on the hospital website, social media platforms, ID cards, stationery, signage and more.
