The Chicago Latino Theater Alliance’s annual pageant “Destinos” returns this month to showcase Latino theater firms, artists and tales.
The five-week pageant kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month with stage productions in venues all throughout town.

“Now we have 13 productions, 13 completely different venues, and the pageant goes all the way in which into October. Within the first few weeks, you’re going to see some actually nice thrillers, some actually nice comedy, and a few actually wonderful drama,” Carranza mentioned.
This 12 months’s programming is in tribute to the Alliance’s late founder and longtime government director, Myrna Salazar, who died in August.
“Her legacy, it’s sort of unmatched,” mentioned Carranza. “So what we’re doing with this pageant, it’s magnified now – as a result of if we don’t uphold her mission, who will?
